Mom, your hair!

Here lately every night I put Zachary to bed and lean down to kiss him he says, "Mom please cut your hair it's fluffy or prickly or yucky."

So today we are walking into pre-school and he looks up and says, "Mommy, I love you. I really like your new haircut, it's packed down."

I had straightened it.....I could not control wanting to bust out laughing! That is sooo funny. Packed Down!

Why is Christmas my favorite holiday....

We were riding home from school yesterday and Cody said, "Mom, Christmas is my favorite holiday...wanna know why?" In which I responded, "Well ofcourse!!!"

"Well...it's first because it is Jesus' birthday. And second because we don't have to go into our banks, get money, and spend it on stuff we want. Mom it's awesome we get really cool, expensive gifts for FREE. FREE Mom....isn't that awesome!!!"

I love the innocence of my seven year old. He truly gets that Christmas is all about Christ and was so excited that nobody has to spend their own money to get really cool gifts. I just love that!!

I thought I would be better at this......

WOW! I haven't posted anything since September? Where does the time go....My kids are growing up way to fast and my protective bubble is busting from around them. I think back to the days of waiting for the day that we would finally meet them...being so impatient. But now I would do anything to put them back where they were the most protected on this side of heaven. Safe from sickness, heartache, disappointment, life.

And then it hit me....life....without all these things that we see as bad there would be no life. We have to accept the good with the bad, the health with the sickness, love and joy with the heartache and successes with the failures. The key is teaching these things to our kids. Raising children has to be the hardest most well worth it job I have ever had. Thank you God for letting me be Cody and Zachary's Mom. There is no greater job I will have in life than being their mom and oh how the time is flying.

We have 11 years with Cody and 14 with Zachary. That use to sound like forever, but today it seems like tomorrow. God please help me use the most of my time with the boys to lead them to you....that is my ultimate goal.

Zachary says all the time, "I love God, Jesus and myself." Those words are music to my ears. What two better things then to love the Lord, his son and yourself. Cody says, "God help me." I pray I still hear these words when they are grown men. Love my boys.....

Too Funny!!

Too Funny!!!

Well, tonight was some what of a funny sayings night!!

Zachary...."Jesus....me love you, thanks for the rain for the trees and flowers to grow, thanks for ping pong balls, me to be able to run...Jesus I just love you, Amen"

Wow! What we can learn from a sweet little four year olds prayer!

Cody.....driving home in the rain and he says, "Daddy, Daddy how did you make it stop raining for a second?" (We drove under a bridge)

Whoo, we all laughed so hard we cried!

Zachary....(Sickness is every where and Zachary wasn't eating like normal, so as all Mommies do...shhh, I think they all do?....I started posing does your BLANK hurt questions.) "Mommy nothing attached to my whole, WHOLE body hurts!"

Well I was asking specifically about all the "attached" body parts. Head, legs, etc.... Cracks me up!!!

It is so hard to catch Cody saying funny sayings because he is smarter then we seem to be these days. He is so serious and fact oriented. Today we went and visited the Train Museum in Greensboro and they have a video of people walking in the front door in the layout room. Well Cody disappeared and when we looked up he was in the lobby waving and dancing on the TV for us to see. It was absolutely hilarious!!!

The days are long but the years are so short, God bless our short years together~I love my boys to pieces!

Scooters and Fingers

Well....we just returned from our 4th or 5th visit to the emergency room. Cody and Zachary were riding their scooters and ran into each other. Somehow Cody's finger got caught in between the two scooters and a bolt. It took off the end, right side and top of his pinky finger.

Yes, Mommy freaked....I just don't handle these things very well. The X-ray showed no broken bone even though the tip of the bone was right at the point it sheared. They had it looked at by a hand specialist and he saw no tendon, muscle or nail bed issues. The biggest concern is infection.

Any of you that know us are dying to ask.....was Bryan home? Well that is the silliest question ever! Not only was he not home but he is out of town in the Western NC mountains doing fire training. I hope he is enjoying this trip because it might just be his last.... :)

Cody really wants to go to school tomorrow, what a trooper! We will see. He is already upset that he can't put his hand in his pocket, he can't sanitize, he can't get it wet...well then won't it be growing germs, how am I going to write, etc. I am praying that there will be no infection, he will have a fast recovery and that coping will be easier then he thinks.

God gently reminded me that no matter how much we as Mom's want to fix it....God is the Healer. It's easy to forget that our most precious treasures are God's and ultimately He is in control. As I was crying (just getting it out) on the way to the hospital Cody ask, "Mommy what are you crying for...I am just fine!" Mommy's think in fast forward, what will they do, they are going to have to clean it out, what if he needs surgery, what if.....So as I stopped my tears and my reeling brain I said, "Cody we are going to be ok, God will be there for us." And He was........

What am I gonna be?

We were doing our nightly routine when Zachary sits with us for a few minutes before he goes to bed. Well this night daddy was at the fire department, so it was just me and Zachary.
Zachary looks at me and says, "Mom, what am I gonna be when I grow up?"
"Well Zachary you can be whatever you want to when you grow up....you can be a fire fighter, a doctor, an astronaut..." I said as I got cut off.
"Mom, I want to ride that Bullet Train with Cody." Zachary says. (Cody is all the time talking about riding bullet trains when he grows up.)
I told him that was fine and then he says, "Do you think Cody is going to drive the bullet train?"
"Well, probably Zachary because Cody wants to be a train engineer when he grows up."
And Zachary says, "Well then I guess I'll ride beside him."
I thought first that was the cutest thing ever because he would let Cody be exactly what he wants to be and he would settle for just riding beside him and then secondly that he wants to spend the rest of his life with Cody. I pray that God continues to grow them closer to Him and closer to each other as they grow older. Zachary loves his brother, Cody and ask for him all day until he comes home from school.
Thanks God for two precious little boys.

AAAHHH! A Snake!

Today was another pretty stressful day for Mommy. Gym, the two week grocery shopping trip, bank, work, unload the groceries.....Zachary was helping and I heard a crash. Well crashes and Zachary just go together so I didn't think anything about it. Got my load of groceries and went inside to find an inch of milk all over my kitchen floor. A whole gallon of milk that Zachary tried to put on the counter, missed the counter and literally exploded as it hit the ground. It was on the cabinets, walls, appliances, under the appliances, on rugs, you name it...it had milk on it.

Well, I would like to say this Mommy calmly said, "oh honey, I love you thanks for trying to help!" But since I am willing to admit I am not always right....I screamed to the top of my lungs, "NNNNOOOOOO!!!!" I then began praying out loud so I could try to contain my anger! This to me is a Mommies nightmare. Sticky, stinky in a few days, huge mess.

Well after two hours of cleaning the kitchen I thought, whoooo! And Zachary please don't ever touch the milk jugs!

After a long day continuing with speech therapy, school pick-up, getting gas, check a store for school uniforms, hair cuts, home for supper.....the boys were outside playing. Bryan and I were inside cleaning up from supper when we hear, "AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!" You then hear the fast foot steps of two little boys screaming, "Mommy, Daddy, Mommy, Daddy, Mommy, Daddy." Cody finally gets out, "Zachary picked up a snake!!!" "WHAT?", I screamed!!!!

Apparently Zachary saw something black in the driveway, went running over thinking it was one of Daddy's tools for his tractor and picked it up. Cody then started yelling at him, "It's a snake!!!!"

They were both hyperventilating. Mommy had, had enough for one day.....it was then bed time!!! (For them and me)

Better to laugh than to cry.....

Well....this has been one of those days. It started with 2 flat tires and a trip to Taylor's Tire for an hour and a half with Zachary in tow. Then on the trip arriving home pulling in the garage I hit the kids John Deere Tractor that then hit the upright freezer that began rocking back and forth.....is it going to fall on my car? So I throw it in reverse only to find out my front license plate holder was still attached to the tractor so it half-way ripped off. After much tugging and yanking it wouldn't come off. Yeah it's bungeed to the front of the Expedition. I could rattle on about the daily happenings but will spare you the bore. Anyway....it has been one of those days!

So we are ending this most lovely of days with Zachary deciding that the foam soap smelled so good he would drink it! Yeah..like take the lid off and drink it. He came running down stairs foam every where screaming! What is a mom to do? Put water in it...no it would expand the bubbles. Blot it with a paper towel....no the towel would stick on his tongue and then he really would be gagging. So....as I am trying to decide what to do I see Zachary stick his hand down his throat and start gagging as he screams, "It HURTS!!!!" So the only thing I could think was to drink down the bubbles with milk? After a few swallows he gagged and then has been fine since.

Boys? I don't get it. Would a girl take a swig of soap? Try to eat dirt just to see what it takes like? Lick a rock to see what it feels like? Chew on their toe because it just seems funny? I don't remember any of that if I did.

God, thank you for giving me two boys and the adventure they bring to my life. My life wouldn't be the same without the two of them. Why God made boys....to make us laugh!

Feelings...

Today I said something about our feelings and I got the, "UUGGHH!!" comment from Cody. So I said to Zachary, "Where are your feelings?" Right here...as he points to his elbow. Well, Cody starts halariously laughing. So I asked Cody, "Where are your feelings?"

And he says, "DUH, they are in your stomach..silly Zachary!"

Life...

We are sitting at the supper table and Cody announces with such confidence, "Life is just not going the way it is suppose to." Well this comes after many discipline issues lately so we really didn't think twice about it.

Warning: This is way to personal for some of you, but those who know Bryan the best are use to this!!

So, yes I said we are at the supper table, Bryan poots. Cody looks over ever so calmly (because it happens quite often), "Now that is what makes life go."

We laughed sooooo hard! To kids everything is such a big deal and then resolved by such simple things as a poot!

(Yes the lecture to Bryan about pooting at the table came later) :0)

Don't you have two pouches?

We are playing in the floor with the boys when Cody announces, "I fell and hurt my pouch." What are you talking about we all say....He points to his left butt cheek. TOO FUNNY!!!

Butt Cheek=Pouch

Didn't you know that was what it was called?

Don't mess up my hair!

Zachary is all into his hair, at the rightful age of 3! If you touch his hair he will quickly tell you, "Don't mess up my hair!" He wakes up in the morning and goes to the bathroom to slick his hair down. So he is appearantly into his hair and the fact that it should be well fixed.

So tonight we were sitting down at Nana and Pa's eating and Zachary looks up out of no where and says, "Pa, your hair looks good." Pa says thank you and then Zachary looks at Nana and says, "Nana, not yours." For those of you who don't know my mom she has one of those short spikey hair do's. We laughed so hard!! It was too cute Zachary trying to explain to Nana why her hair didn't look good.

Kids.....they say the darndest things!

Potty Fascination

This morning I was helping Zachary in the bathroom when he flushed the toilet and said, "Mommy look there's a car wash in the toilet." Yes we have flapping algea again! I haven't felt like cleaning lately. I promise I will clean this dirty house when I get to feeling better!! But no guest please! :)

WHAT??

So we are driving down the road yesterday and Zachary says, "Mommy put my window down, hurry!" So I think he's hot in his many layers and I put the window down. I see him stick his hand out the window like he just threw something out. So I think ok here we go with the "We don't litter speech."

"Zachary what did you throw out the window?" I said

"Mommy I had to throw out my buger, it was stuck on my hand."

I said no more.....just laughed! Wonder where he learned that one?

Fire Station Visit

Today we stopped by for a visit with Daddy since he was on his second 24 hour shift. We were out in the bay with a very inquisitive 3 year old asking Daddy how the ladder truck worked. As hard as it was Daddy tried to explain in simple terms how the truck anchored itself and stayed off the ground and how in order to have power the truck, "had to be running." In his most innocent voice Zachary said, "Daddy (in the tone of duh?), this fire truck can't run it drives!"

Cody's First Basketball Game

Today was Cody's first basketball game. He was doing great! Blocking players with hands in the air (rather they were on his team or the other), dribbling, trying to shoot the ball....and then it happened. He was running back to the goal and he caught a glimpse of something he had never seen before CHEERLEADERS! Well he was so enthralled that his world stopped right then and there. The game continued without one player as he stood in AWE of the girls on stage. The coach finally caught a glimpse of him and ran over to remind him he was suppose to be playing basketball at the other end of the court!

The Joys of Kindergarten

Well today at school must have been a rough day for Cody (and the teacher). I got an email from her saying...Just to give you a report, Cody has been a handful today. Pretty much the same, talkative, wanting to play and talking/playing while I am talking. Just to let you know too, he has ripped his mat to where the stuffing is falling out. I told him that I did not think you would appreciate that. So needless to say we are so very proud of our precious darling!

So after much discussion and lecturing about RESPECT for the teacher and things we buy with our money our evening went on like normal.

At bedtime during our prayer time Cody prayed..."God please make Mrs. Earnest stop sending sad emails to Mommy." It was all I could do to make it out of the room before busting out laughing!!!

Christmas Day

Well...the cutest things happened this Christmas Morning with Zachary.

Zachary was scared to death last night that Santa was actually coming into our house. This morning he kept going to our bedroom window and looking out saying....."I not see him." Then he would go back and say, "He's not here yet." Then it dawned on us that he thought Santa hadn't come yet and that he was anxiously awaiting Santa's arrival. This was the first disappointment for Zachary.

When we got into the living room and Zachary saw Jesus had been born in our manger. He started to get upset. He asked us, "Where is Baby Jesus?" I want to see him. So I showed him the baby I had wrapped in swaddling clothes. No, Mommy he kept saying. We had talked so much about Baby Jesus being born on Christmas Day the he thought Baby Jesus was going to be in our living room on Christmas Day. Bless his sweet little heart!

Three years old is such a fun age. They see everything so literally.

Random Thoughts.......

We were coming home from Max's Birthday Party today and a huge piece of silver wrapping paper was flying down from the sky. It looked like a miniture UFO to me, so we are all staring at it and watching to see where it would land when.........Cody said, "Mom it came down from the sky like God threw it down here. I bet he just finished lunch and was throwing out his trash." So cute and innocent.....nevermind that it was also halarious!!!
