tHaNkFuL!

So tonight we started our celebration of our most FAVORITE time of the year with going around in a circle saying what all we were each thankful for.

Cody (age 8) said, "I am thankful for Jesus who died on a cross for our sins, for hospitals and doctors, for my teacher, for my friends, for a warm bed to sleep in all winter."

Zachary (age 5) said, "I am thankful for food, I mean ALL the food at thanksgiving, for Santa Claus because he is really nice and brings us stuff, for my friends and teacher, for heat like a fire place to keep us warm."

We have so much to be thankful for! We pray that each and every one of our family and friends know we are thankful for them also!

I'm gonna be 8!!!

Today was the day to decide what the birthday cake would look like....so after flipping through the many pictures Mom took at Wal-Mart he decided. Then he said, "Mom, can my cake say I'm a big boy now and I am not going to cry anymore?"

Oh me...kids, they crack me up. So, this means no more crying from Cody? Oh NO, I was quickly corrected?

"Marry Me?"

So the boys are all sitting on the couch tonight doing their most favorite thing, watching videos on the internet of dinosaurs. Zachary out of no where says, "Teagan said she wants to marry me."

"WHAT?" That was what Mommy screamed from the other couch!

"Well I told her I don't want to be a girl....I wanna stay this kind cause I can run faster like this," as he strokes the sides of his most manly legs.

After much laughing and giggling I asked him, "Zachary what makes a boy a boy?"

"Short hair"

"And a girl a girl?"

"Long hair"

So, daddy at this point decides he needs to ask a very important question..."Daddy married Mommy, did he turn into a girl?" Zachary turns all the way around in his lap pulls back to get a good look and says, "No dad you stayed a boy." Whoo...the relief!

Oh the sweet innocence....getting married turns you into a girl!

Our precious friend Madison....

So here is the background. Last week we got news that a friend of ours had been diagnosed with Scoliosis. When I told the boys Zachary wanted to have a walk-a-thon to help Madison with her disease. After begging and pleading with him not to tell Madison these plans...we prayed for her. Praying for Madison has brought many awesome prayers through my kids.

Last night we got the pleasure of rejoicing in GOD's awesome power with Madison and her family after their doctor's appointment. The doctor told them she had NO signs of Scoliosis. Oh my...we were all so full of excitement. Witnessing God first hand is so awesome!!!!

Tonight we are coming home from the baseball field and Zachary says to Cody, "Hey isn't that awesome that the doctor told Madison you have no Scoliosis and we didn't even have to have a walk-a-thon." Cody says, "Yes Zachary...that is what we were praying." Zachary says, "Well that is just amazing!! AMAZING, Mommy isn't that Amazing?"

I answered him, "Yes, Zachary it is amazing that God answered prayers." Then as loud as he could Zachary says..."GOD YOU ARE AWESOMELY AMAZING!!!! I love Madison."

How precious it is to be able to witness the power of Christ first hand with our kids. Thank you God for allowing us the honor to pray for Madison. Thank you God for protecting her from this illness. God you are awesome!

A Month of Funny Sayings....

This has been one funny month with the sayings and questions at our house. Her are a few of those things that made us laugh!

We are headed to the baseball field one day and we pass a field with lots of cows in it...Cody says,
"Oh look it's a baby cow!" Zachary says, "Yeah it's drinking milk from it's Mommy's butt." That was then followed with a bunch of questions. Then Cody says, "Mommy why do people sell cows?" And Zachary quickly answers with, "So people can eat fried chicken!!" Halarious....so we are now all into sitting down to eat and saying, "What am I eating tonight a cow, pig, horse, goat, etc?"

Today in Walmart we are walking along and Zachary says, "Mom you want me to drive you crazy?" Where in the world do they get this stuff from...I don't even use that statement. I wanted to answer, "SURE!" to see what would happen but refrained from the many possibilities.

We were grocery shopping in Aldi and I turn around and Zachary is holding a HUGE ham...bone and all. He says, "Hey mom we need one of these?" I asked why and he replied..."It's a tree trunk and it will grow us a tree."

Cody is my thinker...and never really says funny off the wall things. He always sits back processes and ask lots of questions, but never just blurts out the funnies. I am waiting to catch him one day!

Throw Up, Throw Up and More Throw Up......

Disclaimer....if you are not a mom or dad of small children you probably won't appreciate this post.

Well the stomach virus hit Cody's classroom at school...and boy did it hit. One night it claimed about 7 victims on it's first round the teacher so graciously shared and possibly 3 more the following day at school. The good news is that it is spring break so we aren't having to worry about when to go back to school, the bad news is that it is spring break and all of our FUN plans have been flushed down the toilet with the virus.

Cody handled the virus like a champ, it is his 3rd or 4th run of it in his short life of 7 years. He doesn't enjoy it at all but jumps up and tackles the commode with pride. We worked our way through round one with Cody.

Round two was Mommy...now any of our family and friends know that nothing happens in the Wells' home on a "normal" day. Daddy was scheduled to work a double (48 hours) on Friday and Saturday. Well, Mommy got sick on Saturday night...and for the first time ever didn't call Daddy in a panic and tell him to rush home. So, she also handled it like a champ. (It's hard to do anything but when you see your 7 year old do such a great job)

Then round three hit...and that is where I sit now typing this blog. Zachary was awaken tonight by the horrid virus, which he hasn't ever remembered having! He did exactly as instructed and stayed in his bed as he screamed for us to come. As I turned the corner he was sitting in the pool just smiling, "Mommy I sat right here." After our bath and initial clean up we discussed the next step. This will happen again and when it does we throw up in a potty.

For some reason Zachary has gotten it the worst of us all. He has been throwing up every 15-20 minutes for 2 1/2 hours now. This is a violent little bug for a four year old. Zachary has made me laugh and cry a lot in the last 2 1/2 hours. So after the second trip to the potty Zachary looks up at me and ask, "Mommy do you like cleaning the bathroom?" In which I replied, "NO!" "Well I think you do because that is all you have done for days." During our third trip to the potty...I'm saying, "good job Zachary, your such a big boy, good job." (Because I am SO GLAD I am not having to clean it up off the carpet) And he looks up at me mid-stride and says, "Mommy am I really doing a good job?" Zachary is our pleasing child, always concerned that he is doing a good job. That one caused this Mommy to cry...God may I never forget to tell my children how proud I am of them and what a great job they are doing.

Well after the sixth time we now have our routine down pat...get the job done, wipe mouth with wet rag, blow nose, sit to regain some strength, then tackle standing up. Well this time I got, "Why do people have to blow their nose after throwing up every time." I tried to explain that this is not normal but that your allergies are really bad and they are just getting in the way. As he replied, "Well get them out of the way."

And time number eight...I get, "Mommy why do people have to throw up, this isn't fun in any way." This Mommy is trying really hard to stay positive but it is so hard to see this four year old so sick.

God, I know you have plans for us all and I know you work ALL things together for the good. I have learned some pretty powerful things through all of this about myself (that should be a whole different blog). But I have also learned that I have two very strong little boys on loan to me from you God. Thanks for giving me such different boys to love and enjoy. As I sit here and watch Zachary sleep with purple sunken eyes from such pressure I pray that he will be healed soon. I pray that Daddy will be spared from this horendous virus. God thanks for the strength to withstand, the grace to start tomorrow as a new day, the courage to face this alone (with you by my side), and the power that comes only from you in times like these.

Other funnies tonight...."Is my Daddy really asleep?" "How much longer til this night becomes morning?" "Does everyone have to throw up?" (mmm...now that is a good one?) "Mommy, I have decided I hate to throw up!" (which is a not so nice word in our house)

Well I have left my typing so many times...God give my child peaceful rest, a healing touch and a love that extends to us all. After every episode (which I lost count after 15) I would look at Zachary laid out in the floor purely exhasuted and he would always look up at me with the smile that keeps me going.

Cooper...

Today we woke up to a blanket of snow...it was beautiful! Since we had the pretty snow...school was delayed. On our car ride to school like many mornings we were blaring Toby Mac and nodding our little heads in rhythm when I hear..."Mom, Mom LOOK!!!"

I turned the music down and said, "What?" This went back and forth several times as Cody was very adamant that I saw what he saw. I was looking for the typical train, fire truck, police car, odd colored cars....then I finally saw a sign that said COOPER.

When I finally said, "What, the sign that says Cooper?" The car was full of aaawwws and spoken love of their friend Cooper. What is Cooper doing now? Where is Cooper? I love little Cooper. Cooper is so cute. They LOVE baby Cooper, who we are really starting to recognize is a precious gift to this world and ours!

Thanks God for precious babies to brighten our days and lives.
